What are my Strengths?
When you score a job interview, it’s very likely the hiring team at some point will ask you “What are your greatest strengths?” It’s a simple question, but easily a missed opportunity if you don’t have a good answer prepared. Do you know your strengths? Understanding your strengths can help inform your career choices and open opportunities that set you up for long-term success. Let’s dive into why discovering your strengths gives you a career advantage and how you can discover yours.
Discover Your Strengths
At U Career Success, we offer many resources to help you identify and use your strengths.
By focusing on your own strengths, you can:
- Discover career opportunities that might be a good fit for you
- Stand out to employers in the application process
- Improve your overall quality of life and help you succeed
One of the most highly regarded tools we have to help you get started is the CliftonStrengths assessment from the Gallup organization. This online assessment takes about 45 minutes to complete. You'll read 177 statements and choose how accurately each statement describes you.
When you're done, the test will categorize the results into 34 different CliftonStrengths themes and you will receive an in-depth, personalized report highlighting your Top Five strengths. The report explains why your strengths are unique and how they can help you succeed in your education and career goals.
Taking the Gallup's CliftonStrengths Top Five Assessment:
- You can order the CliftonStrengths assessment through the University at a reduced price of $15.00 by clicking this link
- Once you place the order, U Career Success will contact you with your code and will also connect you with a Career Coach that can debrief your results in an appointment
- Once you are sent the code, find a quiet spot without interruptions to take the assessment for about 45 minutes
- Your results will be available in a report immediately after you're done
- Don’t forget to schedule your follow up appointment where a Career Coach can show you how to integrate your strengths into your job search efforts which includes:
- Assessing potential internships/jobs
- Integrating them in your resumes & cover letters
- Applying when you're networking or interviewing for a job
Strengths and Your Success:
We look forward to helping you learn more and build your unique talents into strengths. As you do this, you will feel a sense of confidence in your own life and help the teams and communities you work with.
