CPDC Recognition Awards

Creating student success is a campus and community wide initiative that incorporates motivated students, dedicated faculty, exceptional employers, and alumni who go above and beyond to support the University.  In an effort to begin recognizing the value of these individuals, the Career & Professional Development Center is excited to announce our first annual CPDC Recognition Awards Banquet.  We need YOUR help to recognize these outstanding individuals.  Please review the awards and criteria below to submit or nominate. Nominations for multiple awards are encouraged! All selected winners will be recognized at our Banquet on April 2nd from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm.

DEADLINE FOR ALL AWARDS - FEBRUARY 1, 2019

Internship of the Year Award

Did you have a great internship experience this past year? The CPDC is seeking to recognize U students and their life changing internship experiences. The Center is seeking submissions from outstanding intern students employed between January 2018- February 1, 2019. Ten winning students will be selected by a panel of judges to be recognized as Interns of the Year! The winning students will receive a cash award, and will be invited to the 2019 CPDC Recognition banquet to receive their award.

To submit your internship experience for consideration, write a 300 word essay describing why your experience was exceptional and a high quality photo to support your submission. Successful submissions will focus on at least one of the following topics:

  • Projects: What did you work on during your internship and how was it impactful on your student experience?
  • Learning Opportunity: What did you learn from your internship experience that complimented your classroom work or that you couldn’t have learned anywhere else?
  • Career Development Experience: What made your internship experience exceptional and how did it inform your future career plans?

Eligibility

Qualified students and experiences must:

  • Be submitted by the student intern by the deadline.
  • Be currently enrolled at the University of Utah.
  • Have interned during the year of their submission.
  • Students who complete an internship between January 2018- February 1, 2019 are still eligible for the award even if they graduate prior to receiving the award.

An internship is a short-term, hands-on, supervised work experience with a professional organization that increases your knowledge of a professional career field. It differs from a part-time job or volunteer experience in that an internship is designed to increase your knowledge, allow you to develop additional skills, and provides quality supervision to guide and mentor you.

Alumni Mentor Award

We are excited to introduce a new recognition category for the 2019 CPDC Recognition Awards Banquet.

U of U alumni are a vital part of the U community, who often serve as mentors to students. Alumni mentors bring history as former students and career experience that can provide invaluable direction to the next generation of students as you begin to navigate the competitive professional world.

Please help us recognize our strong alumni mentor partners at the University of Utah!

This can be a mentor who you connected with on Alumnifire, or via LinkedIn, or through your personal contacts – someone who helped you clarify your career goals or create a path to your professional development. Mentors assist by participating in Informational Interviews, offering job shadowing, career advice or helping you to expand your professional network. We want to take the time to thank alumni who are giving back to the U by helping you on your career path.
