What are the criteria for an Internship/job to be approved for academic credit?
- The Internship must be at least 10 hours per week for at least 13 weeks.
- The Internship must involve new, university-level learning experience.
- The Internship must be related to your major or chosen career goal.
- The Internship must have professional supervision.
- Do I have to already have an Internship/job? Yes, and this Internship/job must meet all the criteria (listed in FAQ #1) for approval.
- How much academic credit can I earn? The amount of credit you can earn for your Internship is based on the learning potential of the work experience and how many hours per week you work. The maximum credit hours for a single Internship is six semester hours for 30+ hours per week WITH excellent learning potential, relevance to your career path, and strength of learning objectives.
- How does the credit show on my transcript? The Internship course is Educational Psychology 3960. It provides upper-division credit but is not a course in your major department.
- Will an Internship help me meet my graduation requirements? Check your DARS report, talk with your departmental academic advisor, and consult with a University College advisor to determine if Educational Psychology 3960 will help you meet graduation requirements.
- Do I receive a grade for an Internship? Educational Psychology 3960 is a Credit/No-Credit course; you will not receive a letter grade.
- Do I have to pay tuition for an Internship? Yes, you will owe tuition for the academic credit.
- Can I get academic credit for an Internship I've already done? No, you cannot earn credit for experiences completed before registering for the Internship. Credit is given only for new learning and experiences that take place after officially beginning the Internship.
- What assignments are associated with an Internship? You will be required to submit 13 written weekly assignments (approximately 1 per week for 13 weeks).
