Why should I attend the Career Fair - isn't it just for seniors or engineering students?
The Career Fair is for all students in all majors. Although some companies are looking for students with specific majors, many companies are looking for students from any field. Majors of interest for specific companies can be found on our website.
Remember that all companies are interested in speaking with University of Utah students who have strong communication skills, organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to work well as a team member.
There are many benefits to be gained by attending the Career Fair. Benefits vary depending on your interests, career goals, and your class year. The Career Fair offers an informal setting in which you can:
- speak with recruiters directly about current and future job or Internship opportunities,
- learn about industry trends,
- drop off a resume (we have a list of which companies will accept resumes at the career fair),
- investigate companies, corporate culture, and work opportunities,
- identify companies and industries who are new and growing,
- gather company information to prepare for potential on-campus interviews, and
- pick up tons of goodies from employers.
If a Career Fair spans two days, should I attend both days?
Come one or both days, according to your career interests. Some employers attend both days of the Career Fair. However, many employers attend either one day or the other. If you are interested in targeting specific companies look at our website to see which day a company is attending.
Do I need a resume?
Resumes are not required and we encourage you to attend even if you don't have your resume complete. However, if you do have a complete well-crafted resume, we highly suggest that you bring a supply to the Career Fair. If you plan to target specific companies and you want to be remembered by the recruiter, some employers pre-select candidates for on-campus interviews based on the resumes they receive during the Career Fair.
